What is elfriede geiringer?

Elfriede Geiringer was born on February 15, 1921, in Vienna, Austria. She was a Jewish Austrian woman who survived the Holocaust during World War II. Elfriede and her family went into hiding in Amsterdam after the Nazis invaded Austria in 1938. However, they were eventually arrested and sent to Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944.

After surviving Auschwitz, Elfriede and her mother were transferred to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. They were liberated by British forces in April 1945. Elfriede's father and brother did not survive the Holocaust.

After the war, Elfriede married Otto Frank, the father of famous diarist Anne Frank. She became a stepmother to Anne and Margot Frank, who did not survive the Holocaust. Elfriede and Otto had a son together, named Nicholas. The family eventually moved to Switzerland, where Elfriede worked as a photographer and raised her son.

Elfriede Geiringer died on December 19, 1998, in London, England, at the age of 77. She dedicated her life to educating people about the Holocaust and promoting tolerance and understanding among different cultures and religions.
